Every community in the eight counties of the Northern Kentucky Area has been affected by the heroin epidemic on an unprecedented scale. A recent newspaper article identified Northern Kentucky as “heroin ground zero,” describing our region as “…the state’s epicenter for heroin, straining legal and medical systems and bringing deadly consequences that are starting to spill out to the rest of the state.” Heroin is affecting families in Northern Kentucky without regard for status, income, family composition, race, faith, or location.
The number of babies treated for drug withdrawal doubled between 2011 and 2012.
The number of overdose cases treated at Saint Elizabeth hospitals increased by 77% in 2012 and, as of August 2013, the number of heroin overdose cases almost doubled the 2012 rate.
Statewide, the number of heroin overdose deaths has increased by 550% between 2011 and 2012.
Interact for Health has issued a challenge grant. If we can raise $25,000 by December 31st, 2013, they will match individual donations 2 for 1 and corporate donations 1 for 1.
We need your help! We have raised $17,000 and need just $8,000 more to reach our goal!
When we all pitch in, it adds up to more people having access to treatment, more high risk individuals and families receiving life-saving Naxolone Rescue Kits at little or no cost, and pregnant women suffering from heroin addiction having access to the prenatal care they need to continue on their road to recovery.
We thank you and Interact for Health for this support. Please help with any amount you can. Your contribution is tax deductible, and please let us know if you would like your donation to be in memorial for a lost loved one or one who is still suffering in the grips of addiction.
We are very excited to speak with you, so if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact us, anytime, at the number below. Please donate online or make checks payable to the Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD), and mail them to 22 Spiral Dr., PO Box 668, Florence, Ky. 41042, c/o Meghan Sandfoss and the NKY Heroin Impact Response. The NKADD is a 501c-3 charity (Tax ID # 61-0719369).
Thank you and God bless,
